About me.

I was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada with my parents and 5 sisters at the age of 14. I subsequently married in Vancouver and now have 2 grown children – a helicopter pilot and a human rights activist!

Somewhere along the way, I became attracted to the nonprofit world and to management. I found a great opportunity as the first Executive Director of the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre, where I spent five years - learning from the parents, children, board and staff and funders about the challenges and rewards of working in the non profit world. This experience was one of the most fulfilling of my working life. I learned a good deal about non profit management and completed courses in the Simon Fraser University Non Profit Management Program.

I subsequently held two Executive Director positions (one interim), took a Master of Arts degree and eventually started my consulting practice in 1995. Since then I have been fortunate to have worked on a wide variety of challenging projects related to the delivery of services to young children and families. Recent clients include The Public Health Agency of Canada, Success By 6 (BC), The Ministry for Children and Family Development and a wide variety of nonprofit agencies and coalitions of agencies.

I am a life-long learner and will share what I know with others; particularly those who feel passionately about the pursuit of organizational excellence!
